Well, seeing I'm a Mormon as well, and having spent "two long years in a strange, strange land" (Thailand) I totally would know where he's coming from... I felt a big switch from liking the girls I used to, to liking the Thai women in many respects. As far as Mormons go, "you can't tell anyone about me" because it's almost shameful to want to be with someone from your mission...
