Lyric discussion by Friendly

They say Bejar made this after deciding never to record again. I really enjoy listening to his voice speaking, and these lyrics are gorgeous. The words seem to speak for themselves, meaning-wise. It's a very honest rendition of his thinking about music, his career and where things are going for Destroyer, as far as I can tell. The part where he talks about the critical reception to "dreams" (trouble in dreams) is almost solipsistic (who talks about the critical reception of their own albums!?) but in a lovable, Destroyer way. I saw him play this song, and the performance was so fun & spontaneous I almost thought he had just made up the words before going on stage. Listen to this track for a good, meditative head trip.
