Constant. This word simply says it all. The song is a love letter, a poem if you will, to God.

"I worked for so long With the weakest of hands on the coldest of shores The wind and the rain Fill me with doubt but you've never been wrong before

I pray for the sun Some guidance, some truth, some glimpse of the things to come With only your song Your love made me strong when all hope was gone"

Times are tough. It's hard to stay in the game when your hands and your strength are not enough to face the cold shores of life. The battering winds of lies, deceipt, and ridicule batter you down and tear away hope. What do you want when this happens? You want it to stop. You want things to get better. You want that storm to cease and the sun to pierce through. And what does it do? Why, it increases in intensity!

"I pray for relief But relief doesn't come, just the will to press on With only your song Your love makes me strong when all hope is gone"

God's Will is absolutely, 100% perfect. There is no flaw to is plan, because He himself is perfect. That being said, we don't always like what He does for us. He allows storms to come our way. Trials and tribulation are part of life. They come free of charge, but at a cost to us. When all we want is relief, sometimes, all we get is more torment. But there is a promise of God's that defeats this death, this evil. It is hope. It is peace. It is "the will to press on". It is love. No matter what happens, Christ is the constant. He really never gives up, even though it feels like it sometimes. Most of the time. He allows for a deeper revelation to stir in our hearts that gives defeat a lethal blow. The chorus says it well:

"All through the night I was falling Straining to hear your voice calling You never gave up, never gave in, never quite gave up on me You are my constant"

Fantastic song and fantastic meaning. House of Heroes does it again :)
