On the night of my ninth birthday I was assaulted by my father. My younger sister has vague memories of it. It seems that was the turning point that made me fear the dark. I was petrified and would wake my sleeping sister so that she could hear the "noise" and validate my fear. When I knew she was awake, I felt safe and then would often finally drift off to sleep.

When I reached my teens, I knew that I was gay & she was straight. We were different, yet so similar - and still are. She is my saving Grace, and I love her so.

May all of her dreams come true......
