OMG you kids crack me up....it isn't a dark song. Its about a guy who is really into this girl. He can't imagine him being with another. The dime reference is what it cost to use a pay phone back in the 60's. You kids read way too much into some of the lyrics of my youth. How is the weather is a nonsense lyric. It just fit. The Beatles used them all the time. It at times drove people crazy trying to figure out what they were "really saying". Sometimes a lyric is just that a lyric.
