Lyric discussion by Scoats

I think this song is about wanting to find happiness in somebody. A bluebird is symbolic of the search of happiness as is a leaf. Perhaps when he writes "well I knew you shook the set-up baby, of all the leaves up in the ground" he saying that this person has put people in the same position before, but they didn't find the happiness they looked for (hense "I see dry leaves fallin' down"). This is confusing him ("fever in my mind" and "riddle in the sky"). If the bluebird represents a search for happiness it could be his description of not finding this happiness.

This pattern can be loosely carried on to the other stanzas but obviously there many lines that i have no clue about. Hopefully somebody else can fill these gaps.
