What an amazing poet, I'm just happy you put such breathtaking music to your words.... You know when you love a pisece of music so much that you play it over a million times a day everyday for a month until you get over it...well I have been doing that with Big Red machine for almost a year now and still am not colse to getting over it....

@blobtower I'm not exactly questioning whether or not these lyrics come from Justin Vernon (it would be great if he actually did submit his own lyrics to this site, but I find it somewhat unlikely). What I'm questioning is how these lyrics align with what's actually sung on the "Dark Was the Night" album. Clearly, there are some words provided here that are not sung (extra/missing syllables and different consonant sounds abound). I'm not the original artist, but I do work with audio and linguistics for a living, and here's what I actually hear on the album. Note: I've decided...

Note: I've decided to include each "stanza" as a complete thought, without breaking this up into arbitrary lines:
we're safe we're love/will doormen we read my mind so nervous
the earth is on its cycle fucked up and puke up in his mane blue sign to slide around this circle slicing out a hole
the films that you send me loving on your own body Jesus breathe in for I'm feeling shy
sermon maker
you're running and injured just like you ought to be to me my heart could I create it on my body with soppy mock up along with one line big red machine
is all I've learned to suffer is all I've learned to suffer is all I've learned to suffer
again, very cool. thanks for being so interested. here are the official lyrics i made for aaron dessner's song:
were safe, out love went dormant we read my mind         so nervous
the earth is on its side    - fucked up and puke up in 'is mane
design! : to slide around your circle slicing out a hole
()()()()
the films that you sent me! Â Â loving on your own body...
jesus.
leave me.
for im feeling shot!
!sell my maker!
you're running and injured just like you oughtta be to me now on
could I create it on my body with soppy marker long with one line.
(the) BIG red machine;
is all i've learned to suffer
is all i've learned to suffer
is all i've learned to suffer
Justin - thanks so much for posting this. Funny how off we were. Makes a bit more sense now. Gorgeous song.
