Lyric discussion by sarah103190

My interpretation of this song has a lot to do with my personal experience. I think it fits beautifully.

This is by no means a sad song!

The narrator of this song is taken aback by someone. They didn't expect this person to show up in their life (blow by blow I didn't see it coming), but he or she feels it in his or her bones that the other person is there to stay. It is completely based on intuition and not intellect or fact. (I feel it in my bones.)

The narrator also feels that the other person feels the same. (You're slow to letting me go.)

Apparently, they are on a break right now. Maybe the connection was a bit scary as it was unexpected, especially for the other person. (Run away. Rushes out. You always run away.)

As far as the following lyrics go:

(I take a breath, take a breath with me blow by blow) = "Let's take it slow! I'm afraid too!"

(I take a break, take a break, tell me you are here to stay) = "We take breaks, but I'm still here to stay. Please tell me you are too, to save me from feeling insane."

(I take my heart out of my chest, I just don’t need it anymore) = Possibly: "I don't need my heart anymore, I know what I feel"

(Take my head out of the game, I just don’t need it anymore) = "I'm not playing 'the game' anymore. You're the one."

Let me know what you think!

While I like you're meaning for the song, I have to say I disagree. At first I thought it was something like what you said but now I'm not so sure.

I think this is a song about losing someone who you still love.

In the beginning of the song she is clearly saying how she is in love with someone and will always have feelings for this person.

I agree with this interpretation as well! I was so focused on the love part that I forgot to address the imagery of leaving.

I LOVE this interpretation and i love how you broke it down in a way that sort of translates it. I think this is dead on.
