I'll give my best guess, but this song is so ripe with symbolism it's crazy....
It's about soul mates. and impossible or incompatible love.
The speaker has something broken about him and he is warning his lover of that.
The two last lines of the first verse communicate that the coldness he has (being broken) will keep her there...
sadness/pain can be beautiful between lovers; the need to take care of one another.
