Though the spark may also be a continuation of the car metaphor, I believe this line is about waiting for a phone call. When she says "I'll wait up for that noise" I imagine someone (while in the car) waiting for a phone call. It follows with "your voice becomes my home" which ties into "driving in the night", a lonely image, but hearing someone's voice even in this sad setting gives her a sense of being home.
