personally, in how i relate to it, it's pretty simple to understand. what can you give another person, if you're not certain what you have to give? if you can't understand yourself, if you're unsure what it is you want, how can you let someone help? and, it's true, generally no one wants to be lonely, but it can be quite a struggle when you're lost, and confused, and just trying to figure things out. you're still finding out what it takes and how to be fulfilled or satisfied with yourself, at all, let alone completely (this can be a lifelong process). is there anything unreasonable in the idea of the inability "to be" for someone else, when you don't even know what that means? what would you, how should you be? what defines you, how do you represent yourself? when someone says they love you, what do they love you for? is it how you'd want to be loved? perhaps, some people just are, and they don't think so much about it. clearly, i'm not one of those people... :)
