Best song on Battle Studies. To me, the song is about young love, or simply all the emotions that run deep when you're lost in love - how the tiniest things seem immense; how the hours feel like days; and when it's over, it's the end of the world.
When you think a little too hard about something it starts to haunt you.
When you start dreaming about that perfect love you start to get awakened by the fact that its not really real.

"love is really nothing but a dream that keeps waking me"

i absolutely relate to this song. listening to it really f*cks me up emotionally. so i'm going to tell you how i feel about this line. its a past relationship that didn't work out for whatever reason but they both feel like they will never stop loving each other. and it's about that fight - you want to be with that person again your love was so deep and no one will ever make you feel like that ever again. but you know you can't be with them. you know it's wrong. you know it's too late, you've fucked it all up already. and it was when you were so young. you're both different people now. it'll never be the same. but still. that love never goes away. so what can you do? you just go on living your life and trying to find your way without that person but no matter what you do, who you're with, and where you find yourself in life, that love is still there and it sometimes feel like it's the only thing that's true and real in this life that you've created for yourself, but at the same time, that real love is just a dream because it's NOT your reality and you can never get it back.
that love is just something you can't help thinking about every now and again and it still hurts after all those years and its still so strong. but theres nothing you can do. and after thinking about the pain again and forcing yourself to not text that person or crying yourself to sleep about it, you wake up the next day and you just go about your life like everything is fine and pretend to the world like it's a forgotten puppy love relationship that isn't still eating you slowly inside.
kitayanka -- I feel the same way about the song as you do. I haven't listened to it in months and tonight I put it on and I'm feeling exactly what you described in your reply... and no one understands! I'll be crying myself to sleep in a few. :( haha

I love this. This is a perfect interpretation of the song. I was trying to figure it out and you nailed it.
