i think you're taking the non-existant but we keep believing part out of context
unless i'm not understanding you correctly.
i don't think she's saying that god is non-existant but they just keep believing
its more like, being in the spotlight theres been a lot of comments about her christianity
and it gets tiring so its harder for her to believe in anything
but then she goes on to say that functioning that way isn't really helping anything
this goal (possibly deflecting the comments about her beliefs by not believing in anything)
shes trying to achieve isn't really the right way to go about it.
my favorite line is
"in the free fall i will realize i'm better off when i hit the bottom"
as a christian to me that means at the bottom is when i will finally cry out for god
and he will come to my rescue
even if you arent a christian, i look at it like, well im at the bottom only way to go now is up.
and thats a good thing in the end. a sort of motivation.
I agree with you. I really like this song. Some parts I really don't get all I believe is that she believes in God inspite of all the things she's witnessed

That's so true! I felt she ment like she's been "exulted too much" but when she falls she just depends on God to be with her and rescue her.
I think I'm gonna have to disagree :S
I think this only has a snippet to do with religion... The bit where she loses a bit of faith and finds a demon (the selfishness) but it's mainly about her wanting to know what it'd be like to be a bit selfish really and have attention without the rest of the band trying to stop her... She's just a bit tempted but everytime it feels like it's getting better the rest of the band are disagreeable and then comes the "freefall" (when everything goes bad maybe?)... she realizes that actually she prefers...

It repeats itself over and over again, the rise and fall. "Turn it off" probably means when she realizes and stops the feeling, the demon, the selfishness.
That's what I think anyway, but just try think it from that angle :)
to leemcgavinjoey- It has a lot to do with religion, read this:
this is an excerpt from the Brand New Eyes Deluxe Edition notebook written by Hayley Williams explaining what the lyrics to "Turn It Off" mean.
“In accordance with “Playing God” this song is the emotional result how I feel when I think about the stupidity displayed by so called Christians and it seems that people who don't fall back on faith seem to have life figured out or at least it works fairly smoothly. On the surface what I’ve found is there is beauty in the figured out. I hope...

I never have thought of it that way! I as a Christian always am trying to figure out what songs mean when they are talking about Faith. I like the way you think it.
