I just discovered this song today and love it! Definitely different from her last album, but still really good.
I had to listen to the song a few times and finally came up with an interpretation. It's like she's speaking to the strong urge to give up in every one of us. It's always so easy to just let something go than to hold on, stay committed, and work through hardship. The times that we do give up is the time we've wasted and blew away. We've let that urge defeat us and give us a false feeling of freedom. This song is saying that we can fight against that urge that's always tempting and mocking us. "i've got my own secrets though, say what? with a heart full of mess and lore, we are doomed but we wanted more"- We're doomed because it's naturally easier to give up, but we want more than going thru life like that.
