I think this song is about wanting your "Happily ever after" so badly, and the frustration that comes with realizing you can't always get what you want.
I don't really agree. I think this song is about haley as a young girl always having her head in the clouds but then her dreams start to get darker and she starts coming back down to earth. She decides to bury her past and the fantacies as well.

That's exactly what I though the meaning of the song was, but I also do agree with ashbashbutterfly-only the ending. I think Haley expected something to be so perfect, when it wasn't. Then, she attempted to pretend everything was perfect, but it wasn't. So, she decided after realizing that it's not helping-to pretend-to deal with the real world; to get over her past and fantasies.
