According to Andrews, the whole album is one of breaking up (which puts the lot of the songs into context and put them in new light). This song, though, might not be all that you try/want to read into it. His lyrics are always pretty much straight forward, even though there is none the like in eloquency and style. I believe that this song is just a breaking up-tune, due to some sin in the past that haunt the two and prevent them from going on together. There's my two pennies
