This song is interesting if taken with several of Mike Rutherford's other offerings on his first and second albums. His songs "Silent Running", "Take the Reins", "Call to Arms", and then "Why Me" all seem to explore the same theme of insurrection or resistance against some sort of foe. Rutherford seems like a dedicated Libertarian who frets the loss of Freedom and an possible future Dark Age of authoritarianism of some sort. Although these songs all date from the 1980s, I think they are telling and especially relevant for today.
@pklocek Here I am replying to you in 2023 and we are without a doubt under an authoritarian regime right here in the United States. I never thought I would see the day but here we are. Indoctrination of our children through public schools with CRT and even worse, gender ideology and the mutilating of children’s sex organs to appease some strange new social order where everyone everyone is judged by their identity and not their character. Strange times indeed but the still sentient and good people amongst us must carry on and fight this battle being waged upon...

Strange times indeed but the still sentient and good people amongst us must carry on and fight this battle being waged upon our children and our society. Though victory seems far from certain and there is told a tragic time in the good book we must continue to resist with our every breath or we are not worthy of the mind, body and soul that has been gifted to us. Use these things for good to overcome evil and our children’s future might not be as bleak as it seems to be now.

@pklocek you nailed that analysis on the head...2021 and we are losing freedoms at every turn.
