i think the meaning posted here is right, except i don't agree with how he thinks "they are meant to be together" i think he is saying she is way out of his reach, because she is so high up and caught up in her own affairs she doesn't know he exists. however if she ever finds the time for him he will be waiting for her still.
the lyrics too are mostly right but im pretty certain the first verse of the chorus is "give my love to the shooting star". there are too many syllables for the other option.
