Lyric discussion by ItsAllNiceOnIce

this song is extremely haunting and powerful. The lyrics explain my thoughts on heaven and hell, and how troubling it is to think of someone dying and being in hell. I don't believe in God, but this song is one of my all-time favorites.

the six-minute instrumental is very serene, and is not at all boring to listen to. It is from that part to the end that is my favorite part. And the final stanza at the end is probably the most haunting lyrics I have heard. A very good way to end the song.

As Cities Burn may not be my favorite band, but they struck gold with this song. Definitely the best on the album and the best by a Christian band. It's a shame that it will never become well-known, but it will forever be remembered to me as the song that best describes the paradox of the afterlife.

i think this song's meaning is kind of a culmination to the album's theme: the realization that heaven and God are all around us. heaven isn't some far-off place and God is in everything (like "that neon sign"). only now can the narrator stop worrying about Timothy in the afterlife and find some rest, beckoning "come now sleep".
