i agree that it's about loving someone
you know can't love you as much in return.

because though you want them to feel the pain too,
you can't want it;
it hurts worse to see that person in the pain
you know so well.

because the love they give you is pity or charity,
and you're starving for it anyway.
letting this person in every time,
even though it breaks fate;
it's still not meant to be-
you have to force it.

buying yourself a ring,
because this person isn't going to do that.
but you want the commitment nonetheless.

this person only takes what they want,
ignoring all that you could give them,
how happy you could make them,
how well you could love them.
it's a selfish love, on their part.
