I think it's about a divorce from the perspective of the child.

He feels like he's caught, along with his brothers and sister, between the fighting of his parents. He feel's responsible, even though its not his fault ("The ones in between/the ones that are blamed", "cursed to believe"). He's now a cynic that seethes, because he no longer believes love is possible as his parents, the epitome of a loving relationship for a young child, have failed to love each other.

The artist then goes on to say "It's like marrow without bone/To live in a house with no home." He's physically living in a house with his family, but it does not feel like a home because it is now bereft of love with the parents fighting each other. "The son is the darkest seed" because he is what is left of a relationship gone sour. The only thing that is left of the love the parents once had. So he is [the son] left to crawl and hide with the curs (an aggressive dog in poor condition). He is now some kind of angry and homeless stray who feels like he has been betrayed by his parents inability to keep the family together.

The last part seems like the father or mother asking where the son had gone and been, now that he (or she) is no longer distracted by the fighting and realized that his son had gone off to hide somewhere. The father wants to know where his son has been, but fails to realize that he has run off because of him and the fighting with his wife. He just doesn't understand how it's hurting the son, and he can't.
