hmmm It's like three parts there. First he meets her, it's a true love they want eachother, thus the "hummingbird part". Then the pills. It's like no one accepted their love, it couldn't go through, so they commited suicide (or plan to do). And then they "look down upon and laugh" like it's some kind of victory for them because they are finaly together despite all the other people. The "true freedom from all earthly constraints".
