This is one of those songs that one hears during a specific time in their lives that seemingly reflects their current situation perfectly. When I first heard the song, I had just been dumped after a long term relationship and was completely devastated. The song lyrics reflected my heart break exactly but the upbeat tempo really made me feel a little better. Of course, I was wallowing in self pity so I refused to believe that at the time, but I realize now that without the countless times listening to the song, I would never have gotten out of my apartment.
Recently, I was heartbroken again, one of those horrible incidents in which one falls for a close friend unaware that it's not mutual until they've fallen way too hard. This song popped back up in my playlist. Fantastic song.
"Open me up and you will see / I'm a gallery of broken hearts."
This line certainly made more sense the second time around because of the sheer and utter devastation my heart had endured in a period of less than six months.
