Lyric discussion by PrettyBlackRoses

I love this song. It's so true at how people look at publicity and becoming famous. 'I'll look at the sun and I'll look in the mirror' is obviously about people looking to the papers to gage their success (The Sun and The Mirror newpapers).

It's pretty self explanatory and I just love the way it's taking a good look at the people we're forced to idolise. Young girls care about getting famous so much they will take their clothes off to get there and it's a sad thing when you see what it's come to.

I don't think the sun and mirror are references to those paricular newspapers. I think the sun is the lives of celebraties and the mirror is looking to see how you LOOK, instead of who you are.

there is no shortage of wisdom and insight in these lyrics.

in fact, i think both interpretations are equally valid and i have no doubt that the lyrics were constructed to convey both of these messages.

Actually, I think the "sun" and mirror here refers to coke. There have been other references to coke with the word "sun" in other songs by other artists, as well. But here, with the sun and the mirror together, it makes perfect sense. Doing lines on a mirror.

Also, the line "as long as I'm getting thinner..." along with the sun and the mirror just makes it spot on references to coke.

Or at least that's how I'm looking at it.
