I think that the song is about a girl who forces herself to live life in a robotic way and exists in a dreamland of emotional avoidance. She thinks and acts in this detached way because she was vulnerable/caught off guard at some point in the past (the virus caught you sleeping) and has since acted very detached in order to have control over her life and feelings (she dreams in digital...now that control is gone). She used to be somewhat obsessed with him (I used to compose/control your dreams) but he hurt her and now she feels empowered by her jaded attitude. His finger is "on the kill switch" because he feels that he has the power to shut down her defense mechanisms and expose her true emotions once again. I always think about Android 18 when I hear this song!
