I mostly agree with jrlaffrey, except for the end of the song.

Since she sings the rubberbands "keep her from crawling and falling" when she thinks or dreams of him earlier along in the song, I think that when she is in fact confronted with her ex-lover, she can no longer keep it together. His presence makes it impossible for her to pretend she's fine.
