Mybe it's a reminder to us all to slow down, find joy in all the little aspects of our busy, rushed lives...like when it's a gorgeous day and you're just driving somewhere, or taking a quiet moment to enjoy a good cup of tea...but I also think it's about seeking something more. He's disillusioned with things going on in the world, he feels ignored by Jesus, he feels an emptiness that the things of this world just can't fill, which is why he asks, is this as good as it gets? It's almost as though he's resigned to the idea that it wil never be any better so he's just going to make the most of what he does have...kind of melancholy. But no matter what the actual meaning of this song is, I love it. I think it's beautiful, well-written, and it's one of my very favorites.
