Absolutely love this piece, from the guitar at the beginning down to the very last second. I would indeed agree it goes with the theory that, even in a non-scientific manner, most hallucinogens/psychotics were accepted to put you more in-tune with the universe. Granted, I've never taken them, and have very little, if any, intent on ever doing so, but from observing others' experiences with them, and the general notion of increased vividity and "connection", I think it's fairly reasonable that this song would be something along those lines.
P.S. Thanks to seashellz for the corrected lyrics; however, only one thing that was right in the first lyrics posting is that the "...servicemen were heard to sigh", not "cry".
