I'm not a fan of Mat Kearney at all, I just don't like his music's genre. But I LOVE this song! (Its my ringtone!) The lyrics are really loose, so really you can interpret this song almost any way you want. The first time I heard it, I thought it seemed like Kearney was singing to a girl he liked whose boyfriend just broke up with her. He's comforting her to tell her that he cares about her--
"If everyone goes away, I will stay"
He's also saying that he knows she can get through this and that she'll be OK--
"Everybody bleeds this way, just the same"
I know in the music video its about him dying, but like I said, the lyrics are open to interpretation.
