A sacred night, we'll watch the fireworks The frightened babies poo They've got two flashing eyes and they're colored why They make me feel that I'm only all I see sometimes

-This is probably the most key part to understanding the song. The babys remind the narrator that why are only what we percive: that all we are is what we see, hear, smell, taste, feel, and thats all we are able to think about. This part of the song is the only time the word firework is used, which is important because fireworks is in fact the title of the song. This song is about fireworks; things that we take for granted. The song also brings up something similar - feeling mortal, as in just being a heap of chemicals in the line: 'A genie made me out of the earth's skin'

I m not sure what Hot Turk Dish is about exactly.

'If the elephants be reaching for our purses' is an intresting line because its probably refering to republican politians taking are money and ruining the world and the average americans life

I read that the album came out on 9-11, which made me question if the love of the narrator is actually there, and actually alive. Hes reminis of her, and talks about dreaming about her but her presence seems unlikely. Maybe the line: 'Then meet me after the world with the shivers' is about meeting her in an after life. The fact that it was relised on 9-11 makes the word rubble intresting choise of words in the first stanza.

The first stanza the narrator is worren out and jadded.

It's the trees of this day that I do battle with for the light light could be justice or understanding.

Family beaches that i disire a plesent line- the narrator says that what he wants is to be at a beach a relaxing place with his family a sorta childhood like memory to have. Someplace away from where he is now.

The song diffenatly has more than a few meanings and was meant to be written that way, which is the way great poety/lyrics are written. This is a really beautiful song.

I heart your interpretations!
