Swear I was born right in the doorway-
the mere sight of her basically struck him hard.
I went out in the rain, suddenly everything changed
They're spreading blankets on the beach-
somehow, she made everything better, or at least
created a change in his mind. made things more clear.
Yours was the first face that I saw
I think I was blind before I met you-
other girls' faces weren't as memorable as hers,
and that makes him think that if he found this face all of a sudden, he must've been looking in all the wrong places. as he says, blind.
I don't know where I am, I don't know where I've been, But I know where I want to go-
she makes him unaware of his surroundings. he forgets that he's where he is and time seems to moe faster, and he cant remember anything before he saw her. but he is aware of what he wants to accomplish with her.

That these things take forever, I especially am slow-

he is scared that he will mess up his chances. so he doesnt take the chance.
But I realized how I need you

he realizes that she is a necessity so he is asking
her to let him have another chance at getting

this is probably a bit after he got scared and asked
her to give him another chance, and she also realizes that he is a necessity so she took the time to get to him

basically she told him that she is thankful she
got the opportunity to meet such a wonderful person
and no matter where she is, if hes with her, she is happy and content.

With these things there's no telling
We'll just have to wait and see-

but hes not sure how the relationship can and will
turn out, too worried about the future. so he is
thinking about taking a shot and seeing how they end up in their relatonship.
But I'd rather be working for a paycheck
Than waiting to win the lottery-
he is reassuring her that if later on in their relationship they possibly live with eachother (or married, maybe) that he would rather work to pay for her to live, than waiting for something better then the something wonderful he already has and loves deeply.
Besides, maybe this time is different
I mean, I really think you like me-
