i'm thinking this is kind of poking fun of the american tradition of demonizing natural occurances..like 'katrina, you bastard!'..you know, it's a hurricane; it's more natural than a sub-sea-level superpopulated city. not that the deaths aren't at all tragic; it's just that to try to place the blame on the big mean hurricane is kinda ridiculous. although that explanation seems a lil too serious for the black lips. they some ironic ass sonsobitches.

Ian from the Black Lips lived in New Orleans. He has gone back and forth living either in NOLA or Atlanta for awhile. He has a community of friends in New Orleans and played in several New Orleans bands before joining the Black Lip. For the other members New Orleans is like the bands second home. The Black Lips knew many people effected by the storm and wrote it as a tribute.
