We think it is a commentary on his life as a rock-star. He can't trust those around him, those who scavenge on his fame, those who would infect him with disease .. to some extent he can't stay away from it because they are his 'existance' but occasionally (perhaps when he is back at home with family) he has moments of lucidity where he sees how wrong that is and how the others use him ... ???
