Tegan has said that she used the number nineteen in a metaphorical sense...she was actually writing about feeling 19 again...and falling in love at the age of 26...which she apparently didn't think could happen.
after listening to this song a million plus 5 times, i think that it's simply about meeting someone and finding yourself deeply connected to them...and it all happening very fast. then they have to part ways and neither knows where the relationship is going.
