The writers of music want to take you to the same place they were when they wrote it. The songwriter could have been long deceased, but you are feeling the exact same thing he felt when the song was written, even though you may be 1,000 year younger. That's why he says "when I look out through your eyes, I am young again, even though I am very old." His songs never die, because they all take us to the place he created so long ago.
