Lyric discussion by magicthighs42

The imagery is at times decidedly and specifically Judaeo-Christian. The urim and thummim he refers to were part of the priestly vestments in the Old Testament which were in some way revelatory, though it does not specifically describe how they reveal God's will. The term God-man, I have also heard used before, but only of Christ. Further, the statement that no man may see the face of God and live is from Exodus, I believe. This guy is definitely not an orthodox Christian, but his imagery is Christian. There is a statment that was left out of these lyrics that comes immediately following the last line that states "I can give you unspoken words, that are not even in the Bible" So as much as I kind of like his depiction of Christianity as an experience that will cause the death of the self and the creation of a new man, I absolutely think he's apostate because of statements like that and a few others in there, as well. It's a magnificent song, though.
