Okay i think the guy in the song was in a car crash and he's drowning. Then again the car crash and drowning could just be a metaphor for life getting you down. But I think he means it literally. So hes drowning but he doesn't care. Life is meaningless to him and he doesn't want it and he doesn't need it. All he needs is this one person. If he does live this person is the only reason why.
