Like, he is searching for love, and believing he's found it, only to find out that, when it ends, it was nothing but infatuation. It's a very deep song. Definitely a tune you could listen to while trying to get over a failed relationship.
And, if you follow what he's saying, he's not talking about giving up. But, rather continuing his search to grasp a hold of true love and not the poppy media crap that isn't and never will be real. It's just, he plans to go about it more sensibly.
