I think there's a mistake in the lyrics above. I think it should read:

"felt like home" means his heart is completely "at home" & comfortable with her, and it hasn't been that way when he was "in love" before. That's why he's feeling so nervous and uptight.
He feels like he's digging himself into a hole and the walls are about to cave in on him.
He's worried that maybe she won't feel the same way about him.
She seems to think that it's just a passing thing for him.
