Lyric discussion by Bazal

I'm going to put a different spin on it. I think it centres around gratitude. The singer is grateful towards his lover for all they have been through for him.

The first verse is his warning about himself; he is difficult to be with, cold, distant, pensive and essentially scarred. He has sucked the warmth out of all his relationships, and it hurts him that he hurts others, so he tries to avoid any form of warm human contact.

The second verse is where he realises that this isn't going to turn out like the others. He wonders if this is all real, or just an image in his mind, created out of figments of his hopes and dreams ("I barely dreamt her yesterday", "Read the lines in the mirror through the lipstick trace.") And he realises she wants to help him.

The chorus is his exhaltation at finally finding happiness, his ultimate "thank you". This person has come into his life and taken away all that he had pent up inside ("She bit my lip, and drank my war from years before.") He believes that this love was destined to find him, it's in their blood to be together, and he is thanking her for finding him and putting up with him.

I sang this to my gf and she cried...

i like your interpretation :]
