Lyric discussion by Arch Parlor

the lyrics reflect the bands namesake author Nikolai Gogol and Gogol's Absurdist writing style. The Absurdists loved to write stories that illuminated the futility of life- the lyrics reflect this idea as a twisted love song. As traditional love songs say things like "I love you, I'll grow old with you" this says that in the second verse, but included is the idea that you may as well start wearing purple now (the color of matriarchs), not just because you can be rest assured that I will accompany you as we grow old, but because you will inevitably lose your mind, it doesnt matter how much we imbibe in intellectual pursuits (foucault, etc etc).. we'll lose everything and be morons...together, baby.
