Intended as a morale-booster and a fund-raiser for the Army Emergency Relief Fund, it took on a life far exceeding any expectations. The show toured the United States, was made into a movie, and for twenty-three months played before audiences of U. S. armed forces personnel in Europe, the Middle East, and the Pacific before closing in Hawaii on October 22, 1945. The song was included in a medley featured in the 1946 musical “Blue Skies.” In "Wartime Medley": Crosby performs excerpts from "Any Bonds Today" (1941), "This Is The Army Mr. Jones" (1942) and "White Christmas" (1942) - which he had introduced in his previous film with Astaire: Holiday Inn (1942).
