I agree with Yigamiester, I think the song's about being gay. I've spun a few other ideas around in my head, and some of them are really good, but that's the only one I can really make all the lyrics fit with. Maybe it's just 'cause I'm gay personally, but a friend of mine actually came up with that theory before I did, and they're not, so I have to assume that's not the only reason.
I could be wrong of course, the song is very ambiguous, and I know it's always... sensitive (for some reason) delving into issues of sexuality, but that's what I think it's about. Do I think Davey himself is gay, or bi? Not necessarily - I'll be honest, I neither know nor care (though I would be interested to hear an answer from his lips, and not his fans). But I think that's what the song is about.
