Gavin Rossdale clearly writes stream of conscious as i wish i could as easily, that is to say, whatever comes into his head goes down. this means that a lot of lines will seem unconnected to anyone but him, because only he knows what each individual line means. its subconcious and thats the beauty, and allows it to be left open for interpretation.
