Basically, the duck's first real relationship is with a kind of edgy guy. She's maybe attracted to him because he's dangerous. She falls in love with him, but she knows that he's a jerk and will probably end up hurting her, so she makes herself leave. Even though she makes the right decision, it's still kind of sad because she loves him.
