I this song is profound sad. As law student learning about how the English, Australia and the US all have 'freedom of speech' - in Australia its an implied right into our Constitution - in the US although i am unsure, I know it is a right - possibly in your bill of rights. It is sad that although we are MEANT to have a right to freedom of speech and able to speak up against our leader if we don't agree with their policies (we have a democracy) that freedom is given to the people yet ironically taken away by the people!

Good on the Dixie Chick for standing up for what they believe in, regarldess of whether or not u agree with what they said. And shame on those who treated them like crap for exercising a fundamental right given to us through our legal systems.

@aussiegirl87 Yes... It is our 1st Amendment Rights (from our Bill of Rights)... Freedom of Speech, Freedom of Religion, Freedom of the Press, and Freedom to Assemble Peaceably. The greatest irony in all of this is that the folks that were most vocal in shouting the Dixie Chicks down...
