I think it's about whatever you want it to be. For me, it's about just going up there and dancing your socks off (or whatever othere embarrassing thing it is you have to do) and not giving a shit what anyone else thinks about you!!!
I realise that it probably has a double meaning relation to "pleasuring oneself" too but that's part of the beauty of the song is that it's not always bluntly clear... music would be boring if everyone said exactly what they meant!
So if he had that in mind when he wrote it, then cool, but that's not how I choose to view it...
