I think the "store down the street" is probably a key part to the song, with it being in the chorus and all. I'm thinkin that it's referring to how, even if you go on vacation to get away from the rest of the world, you can never completely escape (hence the store where they have to go to buy the things they forgot). The world around you is always affecting you, and no matter how hard to try to get away from it, you'll never quite make it.
