I dont make anything to "Deep" out of the song, I like it and from what i hear, i think the lyrics are talking about the business that they are in which is music and in perticular the pressures of releasing an album. the second part talks about being in the lonely room which i take as his studio, where he writes and makes music. The paranoia and vultures that follow could be due to writers block and the pressure of fullfilling the expectations of his fans with his new band. the vultures could be managers, execs trying to rush him, and the curtain could possibly even mean thoughts of quiting altogether. next couple lines such as "its a waste of joy" and then talks about the animals, seems like he really isnt liking what he is doing, how it used to be fun and joyfull till it turned into a business and how animals dont worry about that kind of stuff. The thing that seems the loudest to support this idia is the title and part of the chorus, fast hands to deal with the liars, and bulletproof skin to keep you alive. because we all know how much lying probably goes on in the music biz, and of course you have to have thick skin to make it in that industry.
