I hate the way he doesn't seem to care about the girl in this song. Like, he says he sees "a shadow of emotion" in her face, but he brushes that thought aside straight away, all he cares about is whether or not he was any good.

Here's a guy owning up to feeling inadequate, and the only thing you can think of is "but what about the poor girl he's with?!?" How's that for selfishness? Typical woman... (BTW- I'm a woman too.)
